It's a Small World After-all

Life is so funny... you venture day to day into the realm of your own little space in the world... pass people you know on the street, sit next to your co-workers all day long, talk to your family and friends face to face, but then the internet comes along.

What a gift!

Suddenly, you have the ability to reach out and "touch" so many people around the world, make new friends, and learn new things.

Back in July 2009 I ventured into the world of posting fanfiction stories I had written on various websites on the internet. Since that fateful day I have made lasting friendships in places I never dreamed I would meet people. Sure we've never talked in person. (Well not all of us. :) ) But my heart is full from the kindness I've found in people all over the world.

I can now proudly say that I have friends in far away places like Uruguay, Scotland, Germany, Canada and stretching from one coast of the US to the other.

I am blessed!

So many of my new friends have reached out to me in ways I would never have expected.

Just today I had a picture of an autographed program from a play Randolph Mantooth is starring in way up in Michigan! posted to my facebook page.

That she thought of me in her moment with Randy amazes me.

Another dear friend sent me a t-shirt from the 40th Anniversary celebration of my favorite TV show Emergency! at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum
as well as an autographed picture of Randy and one of Mike Stoker, the TV show Engineer of Engine 51 and real life hero (firefighter), and that is just a few of the gifts she has sent!

And the most special part of that friendship is we do get to talk on the phone and have met in person. It turns out she once lived right here in my hometown! On a trip home to visit her mother we had the opportunity to spend the day together. A cherished time I will never forget.

So... What is the purpose of this blog? you ask.

Well, I'll tell you!

I have made several trips to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in my lifetime and one thing that has always stood out to me is the Small World ride...
"It's a small world after all..." plays through the ride as you venture from one land to the next. It is my all time favorite ride there. Seriously, I know you're thinking "Tower of Terror" or "Space Mountain".

Nope.

I love the message that the Small World Ride conveys.

It is a small world and thanks to the internet...it's even smaller.

Even though I can not afford to travel around the world to meet my new friends in person I can meet and spend time with them right here on the internet.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all of my new friends! You make me feel loved!

And thanks to whoever came up with the idea of the World Wide Web! (which is a debate for another time). It has brought us all together! For with out it, I would never have met all of you!

(Wave Wave...blowing kisses!)

Thanks for the friendships!

Ponderings From a Budding Author...Maybe

I have been in my fanfiction writing sandbox for three years now and am seriously considering trying my hand at some more serious writing...or a "real" story/novel of original fiction. So here's where all of you come in...I have a few questions that I need to consider or need your help to answer.

#1 Do you prefer reading novels written in first person or third person? (Most of what I have written has been in Third Person Subjective Multiple Viewpoint or Third Person Omniscient, but I have done some first person perspective)

#2 What types of stories do you prefer? Real life? Sci Fi? Mysteries? Drama? Suspense? Action? or what ever your preference might be.

#3 and please be truthful. If you prefer to post in private send me a PM, but I really want to know your opinion. If you have never read my work then please visit my website and take a look. They are all Emergency! fanfiction. There are short stories and long ones...even novel length ("The Boot" and "The Fire Talks"). Here is the link: http://www.adventurescomingtolifeinwords.com

And so the biggest question is: Do you think I can pull this off?

I'm not looking for "rave" reviews. I seriously want to know if any of my friends that have read my stories has an opinion on the quality and saleability of the work. Also, if any one out there has any suggestions, I am open to any help you might have to give...or if anyone knows of the steps to make something like this happen or who I might talk to...that would be great too!

THANKS!
